The United States welcomes the June 18 announcement by the Government of Honduras of the appointment of a new Chief of Mission of the Organization of American States’ Mission of Support Against Impunity and Corruption in Honduras (MACCIH), Dr. Luiz Antonio Marrey Guimaraes of Brazil. We commend President Juan Orlando Hernandez’s decision to support this important anti-corruption work.

MACCIH has been instrumental in supporting Honduras’s efforts to combat corruption and impunity. We look forward to collaborating with Dr. Marrey Guimaraes and to the Mission’s full re-dedication to this important work under his direction. We appreciate the Honduran government and OAS reaffirming their ongoing commitment to MACCIH’s mandate and future success.
