Under Secretary Hale’s Meetings in Saudi Arabia

Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs David Hale traveled to Saudi Arabia and met with Saudi Deputy Defense Minister Khalid bin Salman Al Saud and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel al-Jubeir today.  The Under Secretary underscored the longstanding strong U.S. partnership with Saudi Arabia and shared commitment to work with regional partners to counter Iran’s malign influence, and promote security and stability throughout the region.  The Under Secretary also thanked the Saudi leadership for their invaluable role in helping to foster dialogue among parties in Yemen and for their generous support of humanitarian relief operations throughout Yemen.  He reaffirmed the United States’ strong support for UN-mediated diplomacy to advance Yemen’s political process.  The Under Secretary also discussed other areas of bilateral and regional cooperation, progress on Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 reforms, and human rights.
