Secretary Pompeo’s Call with Tunisian Prime Minister Fakhfakh

Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo spoke today with Tunisian Prime Minister Elyes Fakhfakh and condemned in the strongest terms last week’s terrorist attack in Tunis on both our countries.  Secretary Pompeo conveyed his condolences over the death of police Lieutenant Taoufik Missaoui and wished the injured personnel a speedy recovery.  The Secretary also thanked Prime Minister Fakhfakh for the Tunisian government’s rapid response in protecting the U.S. Embassy.  Secretary Pompeo underlined that the United States is prepared to assist Tunisian authorities in the coming days as they conduct their investigation.  He emphasized that the United States remains committed to our close relationship with Tunisia, our partner in the fight against terrorism.
