The United States and Togo will co-host the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Forum in Lomé, Togo August 8-10. The Forum will bring together senior government officials from the United States and 38 Sub-Saharan African AGOA-eligible countries to discuss ways to boost economic cooperation and trade between the United States and Africa.
Ambassador Nikki Haley met today with Adama Dieng, United Nations Special Adviser for the Prevention of Genocide. Ambassador Haley thanked Special Adviser Dieng for his recent visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo and for his honest assessment of violence in the Kasai region in his briefings to the Security Council.

The United States welcomes the agreement reached by the Palestinian Authority and Israeli government about the Palestinian allocation of water from the Red-Dead Sea Conveyance Project to the Palestinian Authority in the amount of 32 million cubic meters (MCM) (22 MCM for the West Bank and 10 MCM for the Gaza Strip). This agreement falls under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed in 2013 by Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian Authority.

President Donald J. Trump spoke today with Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi of Iraq. President Trump congratulated the Prime Minister on the liberation of Mosul by Iraqi Security Forces, which marks a major milestone in the fight against ISIS. The President praised the heroism of the Iraqi and American soldiers and underscored his commitment to the total defeat of ISIS. He stressed the need to consolidate gains to prevent ISIS or any other terrorist group from returning to liberated areas.
