Response to Protesting the Opening of Transnistria Office in Moscow

The United States recognizes Moldova’s concern that the recent opening of a Transnistria office in Moscow will distract from the OSCE-led 5+2 settlement process. Full respect for Moldova’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders is a basic tenet of the 5+2.

USAID Administrator Green’s Phone Call with Interim President of Venezuelan Juan Guaidó

Today, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator Mark Green spoke by phone with the interim President of Venezuela, the Honorable Juan Guaidó. Administrator Green echoed President Trump and Secretary Pompeo in expressing the United States' solidarity with the Venezuelan people and Venezuela's National Assembly, the only legitimate governing body duly elected by Venezuelans.


Venezuela: Travel Advisory Raised to Level 4 – Do Not Travel

The Department of State raised the Travel Advisory Level for Venezuela to Level 4 – Do Not Travel on January 29, 2019 due to crime, civil unrest, poor health infrastructure, and arbitrary arrest and detention of U.S. citizens. This replaces the previous Travel Advisory issued on January 24, 2019.

Protecting Venezuela’s Assets for Benefit of Venezuelan People

On January 25, Secretary of State Michael R. Pompeo certified the authority of Venezuela’s interim President Juan Guaido to receive and control certain property in accounts of the Government of Venezuela or Central Bank of Venezuela held by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York or any other U.S. insured banks, in accordance with Section 25B of the Federal Reserve Act.
